Morning message
Deb Alder

Years ago, a priest reminded me of the importance of moments of daily prayer to provide perspective and strength to carry out my daily work. I was a busy, working mom, considering it a good day if I remembered to say a word of thanks as I collapsed into bed each night, realizing as my children would say their prayers, I’d be distracted by my ever-present “to do” list.

About this same time, the internet became a source of daily information and inspiration with “recipes of the day”, “jokes of the day” and other “tips of the day”. Some thought-provoking sites provided messages which became very important to me as I read my daily e-mails. I urge you to search and enjoy moments in your day to pause and think of the blessings and challenges of your daily life — and talk them over with God. One of my favorites is “In the Company of Prayer,” providing a single line prayer and short reflection. These “morning briefings” are sent at 4:00 a.m. It is often the first email I read when I get to my office, feeling God’s direction through the words in these daily messages as I start my day.
